  • 12:46:11: @AskSeagate i cant usually even test it, it’s not getting a drive letter
  • 14:19:45: @LHopeD ran into Bronwyn today
  • 14:22:06: @AskSeagate not Disk Mgmt. i left it unplugged this morn, every directory call took 10 minutes!
  • 14:34:13: i mailed my xmas “presents” today. i just sent a xmas card but shoved a few post-it pads into the envelope.
  • 14:34:54: i wrote in the 3 cards that i couldnt afford xmas presents this year
  • 14:36:42: all 3 pkgs were the same except the cards were different. apparently 1 card was heavier cuz i had to send that pkg parcel post
  • 14:42:00: i think, @AliVelshi, net neutrality is more about, say, @timewarner favoring @cnn & blocking @foxnews than tiered service levels
  • 15:01:19: top news on @cnn: another beautiful woman gone missing
  • 15:32:17: @AskSeagate at the mo the internal+3 external hdd are showing in Disk Mgmt–2T not there. 5 drives under Device Mgr prob includes dvd drive
  • 15:34:31: @AskSeagate so no, it is not appearing in either Device Mgr or Disk Mgmt. it shows in windows explorer but acts empty
  • 15:36:17: @AskSeagate my error, dvd drive would not be listed under disk drives in Device Mgr, so it probably *is* there. there are 5 listed
  • 15:38:53: @AskSeagate i did contact support directly, they replied today
  • 15:43:50: @AskSeagate seatools wont install. maybe repair shop didnt install .net framework
  • 15:46:33: @AskSeagate not yet. i dont have a mouse (use touchpad) but i do have a usb keyboard, also DSL connection is lan2usb
  • 16:26:05: @AskSeagate crap! i hate losing my 1T of data
  • 16:44:58: @AskSeagate it was the backup. but also storage for big files, like i ripped several tv shows whole seasons. that was a lot of work :(
  • 16:52:16: @AskSeagate i’ve already had 3 1T drives to fail, at least 1 was a #freeagent. another #freeagent 1T drive has bad spots but passes seatools
  • 17:03:28: ext hard drives gives a false sense of security, data-wise. i’ve had 9 total, 3 failed within 2yrs, 2 have problems. dammit!
  • 17:05:58: a silicon-valley friend says i’d get better data security from more expensive drives & maybe so, but if they failed too i’d feel even worse
  • 17:07:42: even tape backup storage fails, it did *twice* at my Former Employer
  • 17:12:59: data storage is physical. all my data is still physically on the disk. what has failed is my ability to access it
  • 17:56:11: news is making a big deal about lunar eclipse but it’s actually pretty common
